   El Account es un acceso concedido por un administrador de un sistema a un usuario. Está regulado por precisas restricciones o privilegios según el nivel del mismo acceso. Generalmente para utilizar las grandes redes o sistemas informáticos es necesario obtener un account similares a aquellas que disponen las universidades o las grandes empresas. Como parte e la procedura de habilitación, el administrador del sistema concede un nombre de usuario (o username) para hacerse conocer por el sistema y una password para acceder.

      Existen muchas formas de conectarse en internet. El más simple y económico es el que se obtiene de un servidor cuando se hace el abono: el llamado shell account. Quien escoje este camino, para colegarse al host del servidor utiliza un programa de comunicación llamado HyperTerminal (algunos llaman este sistema de conección ' a acceso commutado (dial-up)' o 'emulación de terminal'). Apropósito. esta guía presupone que muchos de ustedes utilizan el propio shell account para acceder a internet, por este motivo he dedicado tanto espacio a la descricción del HyperTerminal y de algunos programas UNIX, que probablemente recibirían desde vuestro servidor.
